Oh, how I love the library! My parents would take my sister and I to the library every week growing up. We could choose any books and research any topic we wanted. During the summer, I spend hours in our library searching for good reads. I am thankful that my parents instilled in me a love to reading. Just being in a library is peaceful and calms my mind. I love the magazine section where I caught up on a year’s worth of Runner’s World! That, was a good day. My 3 running books for this week:
- I am really enjoying Mile Markers by Kristen Armstrong, a writer for Runner’s World. I love when I feel like I know her, just through her writing. The tag line is: The 26.2 Most Important Reasons Why Women Run. I have already connected with 10 reasons and I am only 30 pages in! I called my momma and told her she had to pick it up at her library this week. Hope you enjoy it!
- The Athlete’s Plate by Adam Kelinson is a great resource for fueling for marathon training. I have my usual go-to’s for dinner but was really looking for some new inspiration that would give me the energy I need for running. With 85 recipes, this book really delivered for me.
- Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham caught by eye because of the word “mortals.” I was silently cracking up in the fitness section of the library because I realized that this book is exactly what I trying to achieve. I am training for an event that most people on this planet never do, and the 1st man died afterwards! A little history lesson… In the Battle of Marathon, and Athenian herald named Phidippines was called upon to run to Athens (26 miles away) to deliver the news of victory and the to prepare for the Persian ships. Sadly, he delivered the message and died from exhaustion. More on Phidippines here. Great… so I hope this book can teach me how to survive!
