Happy Friendsgiving!

Friendsgiving is a made up holiday we invented to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends who all usually travel out-of-town on the weekends leading up to Thanksgiving. It is always on a work day and can happen in October or November. We love this time with our friends to celebrate and treat them to a fun, fancy meal.

Friendsgiving Must Haves:

  • Rotisserie Chickens (zero cooking and who likes dried up turkey anyways?!)
  • ** Homemade Cranberry Sauce (no jiggly can stuff here)
  • Sister Schubert’s Rolls
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Gravy (Chicken gravy)
  • Sweet Potatoes with toasted marshmallows
  • Green Beans
  • ** Pie
  • Must eat on china
  • ** Folded Napkin
  • ** Nameplates

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bag of cranberries

Directions:

Combine sugar and water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Add cranberries, return to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 mins. Move sauce to a bowl and bring to room temperature, then chill in the fridge until you need it.

Seriously, 3 ingredients?! This tastes wayyyy better than the can stuff and only takes 12 mins start to finish to make homemade. I use the recipe on the back of the Ocean Spray cranberry bag.

Split Pie

Joe loves apple and I love cherry so why make 2 different pies? I followed the recipe on the back of the Comstock pie filling can above. I had some extra pie crust from chicken pot pie in the freezer and used a little to make a divider.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of pie filling
  • Pillsbury frozen pie crust
  • extra pie crust

Directions:

Oven on 425, dump pie filling in the pie crust. Bake for 40-50 mins.

Folded Napkin

Found this on my Spunky Runner Pinterest board and loved it! SO fancy!

Place Cards

I cut up a brown lunch bag and used the rings it made to put around my napkins.
